The Office of the Public Guardian is an independent statutory body that protects the rights and interests of vulnerable Queenslanders, including adults with impaired capacity to make their own decisions.

Community Visitor Program

Community visitors independently monitor accommodation where vulnerable adults live. They can also make inquiries and lodge complaints for, or on behalf of, residents.

Queensland Civil & Administration Tribunal (QCAT)

QCAT is an independent tribunal. We resolve disputes and make and review decisions.
QCAT can make decisions about decision-making for adults with impaired capacity, including financial decisions (administration) and personal and health decisions (guardianship)

The SLASS provides free legal and support services for the benefit of seniors affected by elder abuse or financial exploitation.

Family Law Service (FLS)

The FLS provides legal advice work in relation to family law children’s matters including where the children now live, who the children will spend with and when, schooling and other children’s issues, relocation, recovery, breaches of court orders, change of child’s name, child support enquiries and other family law children’s matters.
